Turkey ranks sixteenth in the world with 720,257 tons cabbage productions. White head cabbage productions’ ratio is 1.74% in total vegetable productions. Although red head cabbage is an increase in production in recent years, its share of the total vegetable production is approximately 0.6% percent. Samsun province ranks first in terms of productions of white and red cabbage in Turkey. Other important producer provinces have given below table:1 both white and red cabbage (Table:1).

In 2015 National Varieties List there have been 126 registered cabbage group seeds. Distributions of these varieties are white cabbage 79 varieties, red cabbage 44 varieties and leaf cabbage 3 varieties.Turkey’s productions of leaf cabbage are 71,118 tons. Most of them have been produced in Black Sea Region.  Samsun province also ranks first in leaf cabbage with 17,252 tons productions.

A large part of the producing cabbage is consumed in domestic market. Between 2000 and 2013 the import and export data of cabbage has given table:2.

Exportation of cabbage in 2013 monetizes 1,962,000 USD. However 147,000 USD has paid for cabbage importation.

Cauliflower

Cauliflower production is harder than other species in the cabbage group. Because cauliflower is more chooser in terms of ecological request than others. Its cultivating needs more technical information also its seeds are get hardly. Moreover because price of cauliflower is expensive, it hasn’t been interested by producers and consumers in a long time.

But in recent years consumer demands increase for especially in terms of functionally food value and product quality. Due to the fact that it has sold higher price from other cabbages and it higher incomes from unit area, cauliflower production bring significant increases (Table 3).

According to data of 2015 182,266 tons cauliflower have been produced in 76,082 decare in Turkey. Cauliflower cultivation is made widely in the fall and winter. Most of products have been consumed in domestic market.

Of late years has been started to export of cauliflower. According to data of 2014 2,256 tons of cauliflowers were exported and 932,137 USD was gained.

Number of registered cauliflower seeds are 120. Used seeds cultivating of cauliflower have been exported. Values of exported seeds reach 2,120,248 USD. This figure is quite high and it comes up to 10 percent of total vegetable exportation.

Broccoli

Broccoli has been cultivated predominantly in Mediterranean and Aegean regions.

Izmir province takes first place in growing cauliflower, Antalya and Mersin are other important provinces (Table:4).

All of the broccoli productions are consumed in the domestic market.

Lettuce

447,492 Tons of lettuces were produced in Turkey in 2015. 157,081 tons of this fugure are campania variety, 225,021 tons are romaine variety and 64,490 tons are iceberg (Table:5).

Almost half of romaine lettuce production has been cultivated in Mediterranean region.

Registered lettuce seeds are 225.

Carrot

According to 2015 data 534,988 tons of carrots were produced in 101,003 decare. With this figure Turkey take place number 9 in the world.

Amount of production of carrot comes up to 1.8% of total vegetable cultivating in Turkey.

Carrot has been cultivated predominantly in Konya and Ankara provinces (Table:6)

The registered numbers of carrot seed are 89.

Cultivated carrot consumed in the domestic market either fresh or meals.

52,517 tons of carrots were exported in 2013. This figure is approximately 4% of Turkeys total vegetable exportation.

Spinach

Turkey takes the fourth place in production of spinach in the world. Spinach is cultivated mostly in Aegean, Black Sea and Western Anatolia regions (Table:7).

The registered numbers of spinach seed are 96.

Most of spinach productions have been consumed in domestic market. In 2013, a small amount of spinach was exported.
